Knox County Health Department Honors UT’s Commitment to COVID-19 Safety

The Knox County Health Department has recognized the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s efforts to keep the campus community safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The health department this week awarded UT a Community Commitment Certificate. The recognition identifies businesses and institutions that are proving their commitment through their actions by appointing a COVID-19 coordinator to implement safety policies and procedures, displaying and sharing vital information, and staying up to date on the best ways to reduce transmission.

The university mobilized its Emergency Operations Center very early in the pandemic. Since then it has established a comprehensive coronavirus web site with guidance and resources for the campus community. It also sends frequent communications to students, faculty, and staff to keep them updated on discussions and decisions regarding the status of campus and its phased reopening.
