If you witness a crime, have information about a potential crime, or witness suspicious activity you can now provide that critical information anonymously to UTPD by using the recently launched Tip411 service. One of the best ways to prevent premeditated acts of violence like an active shooter is for observant citizens to report suspicious behavior to authorities. Now in addition to hotlines like 946-CARE and 974-HELP, you can use Tip411 to make the campus a safety place. Police can respond facilitating two-way communication that remains anonymous because the technology removes any identifying information.
Anyone with a cell phone can now send an anonymous tip by texting the letters “UTPD” followed by the tip information to Tip411 (847411). Anonymous tips can also be submitted via UTPD’s website. A new Tip411 app for iPhone and Android smartphones will be available soon.
