Many crimes are stopped before there is a victim by observant community members. If you see something out of the ordinary that just doesn’t seem right to you, trust you instincts and report it to local authorities. If it turns out to be nothing, so be it. Examples of suspicious activity that could be seen on campus:
- Signs of distress: changes in behavior or appearance, threats, inappropriate anger, substance abuse, plotting violence, withdrawal
- Unattended bag in unusual location
- Suspicious package with stains, discoloration, strange odor, excessive tape or postage, mislabeled
- Someone observing, recording, or monitoring activities
- Someone attempting to access a sensitive area or testing security and responses
- Someone asking probing questions about security
