UT Alert Test on Friday, February 21

The university will test the UT Alert mass notification system at 1:10 p.m. Friday, February 21.

As part of the test, campus blue phones and fire alarms will be activated.

To ensure that the campus community receives notifications during an emergency, the UT Alert system sends automatic email messages to all students, faculty, and staff, regardless of whether they are subscribed to receive text messages.

To receive UT Alert text messages in addition to the automatic email messages, update your account at utk.edu/utalert with your NetID and password.

UT Alert email and text messages are often delivered at different times. If you are signed up to receive both email and text messages and do not receive both after five minutes, make sure your information is correct.

The UT Alert system allows us to send emergency notification messages to computer monitors. This feature also will be part of the test on Friday. Computers on the active directory should already have this feature installed. To verify installation or for instructions to download, visit utk.edu/utalert/faq.

For assistance with signing up for UT Alert or updating your information, email utalert-help@utk.edu or call 865-974-3061.

UT has implemented the LiveSafe app as a resource that is available for your personal safety. The app turns your smartphone into a personal safety device. Report emergencies, tips, and suspicious activity and access resources including a campus safety map. Share your walking or driving route with chosen contacts. Download at https://prepare.utk.edu/app.
