Local government and agencies once again rose to the challenge posed by wildfires in the Great Smoky Mountains, which began at the end of March. Public safety professionals from across East Tennessee, including Brian Gard and Brad Walker from the UT Office of Emergency Management, responded to help the residents of Sevier County.


The university will test the UT Alert mass notification system at 12:40 p.m. Friday, September 10. As part of the test, campus blue phones and most fire alarms will be activated.


The Knox County Health Department has recognized the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s efforts to keep the campus community safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. The health department this week awarded UT a Community Commitment Certificate.

This weekend’s violent attacks in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, often raise concerns in our community. The UT campus has multiple resources and training available.
