FBI Offering Active Shooter Training

On Thursday, August 28, 2014, the FBI, in conjunction with the InfraGard Knoxville Members Alliance and the Association of Networking and System Administrators at Pellissippi State Community College will provide Active Shooter training based on the nationally-endorsed “Run, Hide, Fight” standard protocol designed to educate industry partners and citizens on what to do when faced with an active shooter in a mass killing situations.

The UT campus endorses the Run, Hide, Fight protocol and provides guidance on the safety website. The event is free and open to the public and those with an interest in learning more about response to an active shooter event are invited to attend.

The presentation will be given by FBI Special Agent Scott Johnson, Training coordinator/Primary Firearms Instructor for the FBI – Knoxville Division at the J.L. Goins Administration Building on the Hardin Valley campus of Pellissippi State Community College. There will be a “meet and greet” beginning at 5:30 and the presentation will start at 6:00 PM. See below for a map.

Questions about the meeting can be e-mailed to Pat Payne (pjzz@comcast.net) or Richard Scheuch (rscheuch@embarqmail.com).

The FBI is committed to working with its partners to protect schools, workplaces, houses of worship, transportation centers, other public gathering sites, and communities. To that end, the FBI seeks to provide services to help detect and prevent acts of targeted violence, helping academic, mental health, business, community, law enforcement, and government entities recognize and disrupt potential active shooters who may be on a trajectory toward violence.
