The Knox County Health Department has recognized the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s efforts to keep the campus community safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. The health department this week awarded UT a Community Commitment Certificate.

UT is coordinating with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Tennessee Department of Health, the Knox County Health Department, and international health safety and security agencies to closely monitor the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The Office of Emergency Management will test a component of the UT Alert messaging service called “I’m Okay.” It is a polling feature that allows users to self-report their status. The test will occur at 1:10 p.m. on Friday, October 25.

This weekend’s violent attacks in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, often raise concerns in our community. The UT campus has multiple resources and training available.
